Nestled in the Western Mountains of Maine, lies a former apple farm that is now the home of Sugarloaf Alpacas. Grazing among the apple trees is a small herd of huacaya alpacas, along with two "guard" llamas.
I remember the first time I saw an alpaca. I caught my breath and held it in awe at the sight and sound of this intriguing creature. It was love at first sight! I spent much time dreaming about bringing these animals into my life and then with the encouragement of my husband Brian and the realization that life is about making dreams come true, we purchased our first alpacas. We have never looked back!
Our intention is to remain a reasonably small farm offering individual attention to our animals, commitment to this growing industry, and support to our customers. We breed for total soundness both inside and out and superior fiber.
We welcome visitors to our farm in New Portland, a small town that lies between Kingfield and Farmington, Maine.
